Ask me your toughest Ecommerce SEO Question

With little effort is subjective. You can either use a lot of money and hire a pro or a lot of effort and do it yourself. There is no magic software that's going to give you instant rankings and success. If there were such a "little effort" method there would be no point to SEO period.

Google's entire objective is to make ranking websites via manipulation as difficult as possible.

100% agree, this is what I've always meant to say when people start bitching about google slapping their sites, as if google was supposed to be putting bread on the table for them just because they bought a $5 xrumer blast for their 2 month old site.

no mas on the V2 of the guide?

looks like a solid project. Hope there's more to come.

Thanks.

I have a few questions. I'm not sure that they qualify as difficult, but I'm going to ask them anyway:

In a highly competitive niche, is it necessary to also use PPC campaigns or can you realistically compete with organic traffic?

How do you get the most out of on-site SEO?

In your experience of all payment models, what type of checkout system results in the most conversions and the least amount of incomplete orders?

Thank you for your time.

Whats the best way to scaleably generate content for a large ecommerce site such that it avoids duplication penalties?

I'm trying to increase the length of my descriptions on product pages. One way is including an author or artist bio. Will I see a benefit if I spin the author/artist bio each time or is that just a waste of time?

How many internal links would you recommend per product page - as related items etc...

Have you seen a benefit from giving a discount at the cart for customers who "share" via social media their purchase?

For a small shop, say under 50 items, what ratio would you use for linking to the main shop page and individual items?

How much SEO work bleeds from individual items to the whole shop? if I were to link build to one product heavily for a keyword like "Soccer boots England" - will that benefit my shop for results for all soccer boots? That's a more general keyword question.

Do Google threat text from dropped domens that has coppy at archive.org/web/ as unique?

1. How do you go about the front page of your ecommerce, so it's well optimized for the main keywords?

Do you include all categories, or maybe add a long article?

2. How much do you inner-link in your product descriptions. Let's say every product description is about 400-500 words long. How many links will you drop to other related products - everywhere possible, or do you limit it somehow? What about categories, do you even link to them? Also what about the home-page, do you link to it at all from these descriptions?

3. What kind of COMPLETELY white-hat link building would you recommend for a NEW ecommerce store?

I hope my 3 questions serve you well, my friend! :)
I'm building an ecommerce myself, also maintaining a journey. I will try to come up with some nice additional questions.

- What about links that can get you customers? I'm talking about posting on craiglist, and other such websites? How do you approach this at all?

- How many monthly searches (US searches) does a keyword need in order to be "targeted"? Talking only about buyer keywords. My honest opinion is that depending on the niche, even a 30 searches per month could be profitable, and easy to rank.

- Do you recommend creating a blog for an ecommerce. For example a blog located on a subdomain like blog.mywebsite.com? Do you do SEO to this blog?

Just to keep the thread alive. Also, I'm pretty sure there are plenty of other questions that are tricky.

- A lot of ecommerce websites usually start by posting in niche related forums (usually signature link). Do you recommend this tactic for beginners, also is there any cap of links you can make? If outsourced, you can literally get 100-200 posts daily on big niches, where multiple forums are available.

What source of traffic have you found converts to the most sales?
Got some breakdown of a few sites?

here's my toughest question: how do you outrank sites like amazon?
