A very big reason why you and I could have such different opinions - which I've seen often and with many products - is the rate at which various apps are iterating.

Right now, word.ai puts out effective, well-written REWRITING (which I still wouldn't publish as-is) and importantly (at least for my needs) can do so in bulk.

TBH I was put off by wordplay because the makers struck me more as juvenile affiliate marketers, but then, after a lot of testing and using in the real world, I recommend it as by far the best rewriter out there.

In fact, I never used both, just they claimed Quillbot is better than wordAi, and there were some people said this, even in this thread you can check. I would be very trust a person like you if you tried both products recently.
