So my site has been up for over a month and is on the first page of g. I decided to submit articles using AMR (finally working) for extra BL and about a week later, noticed that the articles I submitted bumped me to page 2. WTF? Is this typical of new sites?

With a new site there is always the possibility of index movement and even disappearing for a spell in the sandbox - working with G is not an exact art as they show and act with little or no respect to new sites - the way to get permanent index traction is new content and new content and new content and more new content = Hard Work. But and the but is if you put in the hard work in the medium to long term all your efforts will be repaid to you 10 times over :)

This man speaks the truth. The only exception is that I don't think you're in the Sandbox as I don't believe one exists. That won't make you feel any better since you're sitting on page 2.

I suggest you start creating some original content and even more importantly I would suggest that you follow the best SEO practices you can.

I feel that any movement in Serps is a good thing. IMO it means your site is being reevaluated.
I have been on 1st page, than after submitting articles/bl thrown to 3rd/second, than put back on 1st. Every time I came back to 1st page I got superglued. I might move couple ranks within the page if some "news" related site come in.
Just keep on working and you'll be fine.
PS: I never ping my new BL or articles, I let G find them naturally.

New sites do move around in the ranking, just keep creating quality backlinks and articles to ensure you do not fall too far down.

The article sites most likely have a much higher domain PR than your main site. It's significantly easier for them to rank high in the SERPs, even with only a 500 word article and some keywords..Learn how to use it to your advantage :)

Well my thought is, why submit my URL through article writing when it ends up bumping me. Do sites hold weight later on over articles?

Just to clarify to those who do not believe in the sandbox. It does exist. I don't know why people keep saying this. I was there for 6 months with one of my niche sites, the sandbox is very real.
