Can't understand your message fully, to be honest.
However, if what I understand is correct, yes, you can rank in Google with articles (directories?) however that isn't recommended. Use your own site, post articles there, rank them. Yes, send some anchor text backlinks to your site, the actual URL and randomize the anchor text too.

You have the article on your website focused on some keyword
Make or find some Backlink strategy - that means, u will build backlinks to your article. Some backlinks will be as anchor text and some not.
Also mix do-follow and no-follow backlinks.

Yeah, but it depends what for. Very specific and informative articles can do well, if they have a lot of relevant comments on as well to show interactivity.
Broader subjects are more difficult because there are already a lot of articles/sites out there with good information and good rankings.
