Articles as Wordpress Posts or Pages?

Do I need to be making my articles posts or their own pages? The reason I ask this is right now I have all of my articles as posts and sometimes one of my shitty 500 word articles will outrank my main 1500 word article!

Nothing wrong about that, just let the search engine do its thing. I prefer posts though.

Doesn't make any difference. Pages usually have more authority because they're usually static and linked from all over the site. But that's a on-page factor, not anything specific to pages vs. posts.

Its the same thing. I would go for post. Check your permalinks. I set it to /%category%/%postname%/

i would prefer page over post, old posts will have a lower ctr

Use posts for your article and pages for About, Privacy Policy, ToS, and Contact Page. Posts can be added to pages too. Posts are usually better because a lot of plug-ins will cater mostly to posts and you will have more features that can be used on a post rather than a page.

Most of the plugins are created based on WordPress default system which is articles will be added as post. If you create page for articles,many plugins wont work.

i have many sites and tested this...

I found posts seem to rank better ... From my experience

Make pages to be the t&s, privacy etc

and also front page, a page not a post if that makes sense?

If you post articles only as pages you'll have to make the siloing structure by yourself which quickly becomes a hassle but they're great because you don't have the date so they can be kind of reference articles that survive over time with only a few tweaks from year to year if you care to add a few precisions.

If you feel the necessity of pages for different types of posts , You can use pages. But try to keep your permalinks short as possible . Pages are good for targeted visitors who want specific category's articles.
