I was just wondering if this is worth doing as a form of build up traffic etc??

i know the stats of ezine has dropped 38% according to another thread.

But for anyone with articles, do they get you a fair amount of traffic?

I find writing hard at times and too time consuming, just trying to figure out the best place to focus/spend my time etc

Article marketing is one of the best ways to build back links as well as generate targeted traffic. In fact, that is the only way I use to generate back links and traffic using my link push method.

Ezine is still no.1 in article directories.

Don't worry about it if their traffic has dropped. They are a serious authority site so it helps your articles rank for their keywords. If you're going for backlinks then it doesn't really matter what the traffic is as long as you're getting a high quality link. But if you want traffic you need to make sure your article funnels them to your site and it ranks well. So backlink those articles too.
