Article Writing - SERIOUS Question

When you deal with people, you always run the risk of being cheated. A lot of the people want free content even though they will be making money off of it. When dealing with a person, you could request up front payment. You might even do half up-front and half when the job is finished.

Have a great day!

Service providers usually fall for those sh*tty scammers when they desperately need some money to pay bills & those scammers promise to pay after the work.

Every content writer rewrites. What are they supposed to do when i ask for information on typical scrotum diseases?

Lol exactly.. Charging to write an article after an indepth offline research would be way too high & unfortunately I haven't come across any of such clients

Good advice from the posters :)

I would add, don't accept work from anyone unless they have a few references (not foolproof but it might discourage the quick scam artists)

Have them agree in advance, that if your article passes copyscape, you get paid, no ifs, ands or buts. Or at least not be able to accuse you of spinning or copying as an excuse for non-payment.

If they don't pay, "out" the bastard on the forums!

Not foolproof of course but every little safeguard helps!

Straight to the point. Thanks for your input, my friend :)

Hay dude..
I think he doesn't wont to pay you.next time be carefull...........
never trust anyone.

I met a guy through Craigslist. He said to pay 2.5 yuan per 300 words. I said yes, I need some cash. He promised me weekly. The purpose for my safety, I got his contact number. And address. I wrote an article a week worth about $ 100.

As painful as it will be to your business, try to take at least partial upfront payment as a standard practice, or wherever possible as a freelancer. Don't play bill collector on top of content researcher and writer. It's painful because some business will go the other way, but it's peace of mind knowing you have a real deal, and some fragment of the compensation in place. Most services provided online are completely paid for upfront, but for some reason, writing is supposed to be an exception. It shouldn't be, to head off non-payment double crosses like that which the OP experienced.

I agree with what the others here have said, next time ask for half upfront. If they are legit, they'll pay it. Nobody wants to work for free. I personally would not go through Craigslist, I have heard a lot of scammers post ads there. There are better places to look for work. Sign up with a few of the freelancer sites like eLance, oDesk and freelancer. You can bid on writing jobs that interest you. There are still people who will try to get away with paying as little as possible just avoid those offers.

Always, always get the pay up front.. Not half, the whole thing.. They're commissioning your time

I wouldn't waste my time with that fella. This happens to the best of us and that is unfortunate. Keep on marching :)

hi narayan

no suggestions just one thing this guy has actually bluffed you, took your contents and now does not want to pay you thats it

do one thing before he can post this content without his knowledge you post it and then once he posts it he will get caught for plagiarism issue.

Make account in ezine and some other article submission site and submit those articles.
Make a blog in WP not a free blog ok nad post all the articles one by one in your blog ASAP.

this kinda guys are nothing but sub vendors and big time cheaters and scammers, if you got this guy from this forum also report it to the admin about the same and see if you can block his id.

if he is from your country then try to get in touch with him via phone or if you have his address then trace him there.

but the first options I gave is always better.

if you do not have a forum in Word Press then PM me your details and will send a mail to you send me the articles and will post it in my blog that I have to fukc people like this.

If you like my suggestions do send me a thanks in the thanks meter and PM me

Why do you need suggestions mate? If you did not rewrite them, than it means they are not rewritten.

But if you had inspired so much from those sources you mentioned, then it is what your client says.
Sorry, but not sure I agree with this.

The guy said that his articles had passed copyscape and he had read a few writeups on a piece of software and compiled his own report.

Besides, asking an article writer to write about a piece of software he has never used, the client should have known that there was no way he was going to get something 100% unique. Sounds like the client's a muppet to me.

You know what some people are stupid like that. Just forget him and let him keep his money. It sucks but it's part of business. Some people just don't get it. I had a boss who bought quickbooks on ebay and in the auction it clearly stated that the software could not be registered. Yet this dumba** decided to call quickbooks and try to register and acts suprised when he can't. Then he freaking complains to ebay to get a refund from the guy who he bought it from.
Don't lose hair over stupid people. move on as quickly as you can.

I haven't had this issue come up yet, but I appreciate everybody's comments and advice and, even though I hope I won't have to put it into practice, I hope I'll be better equipped to deal with a situation like this if and when it does come up.

Onward and upward, as they say.

I have not had an issue yet...but I give plenty of samples, and I also like to write one for him after hes seen my samples. He buys that copy, and if he likes it, we proceed. I also try to get the tone he needs with the article.

Ive also never dealt with anyone outside of here or textbroker, so theres always been a venue for exposing them if they screw you.

That's absolute rubbish. I got a similar client once who complained about the content being re-written. Seriously, in the ball park of $1/100 words, what do you expect?? If the future, do what I do - Charge in advance. I am ok with spending some time and talking to each client before taking on their work and answering all their questions. I am frank about our past work and expertise. But I only do the work once the payment has been made.
