Microsoft Word or Google Doc is fine.
Usually MS word since people are skeptical of Google

I had people deliver in .txt files too, that's fine too I guess

When I ask for an article, I usually ask for it in Microsoft Word so that I can easily edit it.

But I also happened to receive documents in Google Doc or PDF.

Why don't you ask the client how they want the article to be delivered? One of my writers sends me articles in both Word and PDF, it's also a good option :)

If you deliver it in .txt, normal people will love you.
