Article submissions - How to get the best value?

For the past week i've been submitting keyword optimized articles to various directories such as

Ezinearticles
articlesbase
pubarticles
sooperarticles

Each of my submitted content is completely unique and have one or two links pointing to my site with my keyword in the anchor text.

After the article is approved I bookmark them (digg/stumbleupon/delicious/reddit) followed by pinging the url via pingler.

Haven't seen a significant impact on the keywords yet and it takes quite a bit of time. Can someone suggest if what i'm doing is right? Or is there something else that i'm missing out on?

I would highly recommend to look for other ways of getting high quality backlinks, research where your top ranking competitors' backlinks are coming from I try to get back links from those site.

Reason why I recommend to look for other ways is because most article directories even large ones like EzineArticles had a loss of Google's Trust after Panda release, and therefor no longer transfer enough Trust juice to outgoing site, that is why you are not seeing significant improvement in your rankings.

Another factor that plays a major role in rankings is age; the age of your domain and the age of your backlinks.

You make some valid points. However, going by this theory, how then would an AMR campaign be successful, or in other words what would the purpose be to blast out to article directories when the link power they send out via backlinks isn't significant to improve on the SERP's?

The BIG article directories have been massively demoted in power by Panda.

AMR only works because of the sheer volume. See a post I just penned on AMR results and indexing stats over the last 90 days:

If you're going to do manual, then use Zenno Poster/Magic submitter etc and teach it the manual 2.0s, as these aren't spammed to death and will get you some solid results. You'll need more than a handful of articles though - so good quality spinning will be essential.

Also, pinging doesn't cut the mustard for indexing anymore.

These guys are right. It used to be the case that a search for some keyword would bring up results from article directories on the first page, but since Google Panda things have changed dramatically. This is especially the case for a site like Ezine articles, which has been demoted hard and fast.

As the others have said, your best bet now is to avoid Ezine like the plague and look at other ways of getting trustworthy backlinks. You could be trying for months with the major article directories and you'll see maybe a very small, cosmetic improvement that's really not worth your time.
