You could run the risk of the article not getting indexed because it may pop up as a duplicate however there is also the chance that it will be indexed. If it is indexed, there is also the chance that Google or other engines may exclude it from results because of the duplicate content.

I do one article in up to 20 sites with out spinning, because it is take time to approve. Don't submit same article in hubpage , ezinearticles, squidoo because they don't approve spinning and duplicate content.
If you're looking for something that's free, I recommend SpinChimp. I haven't used any paid spinners, so I don't know about those. I have heard others say that SpinChimp is better than some paid spinners though.

it is not recommended to put the same article on many sites, a little tweeking is always good, even just a different intro to the same article helps.
