Article Submission - How to get the best results?

Would one get better results (a better rank) in the search engines through:

a) Submitting the same article to the top 50 article directory sites.
b) Submitting the article to a select few; i.e. top 3 - Ezine, Articlebase, Buzzle
c) Submitting the article to a large number of article directories, let's say the top 200.
d) ... Any strategy which you think is best?

What are your opinions on this? Would Google reward you more if you don't try to spam lots of article directories and focus on a few? Will they hold you in a higher stature because of that?

I spin my articles to the Nth degree so almost all of them are very unique so bear that in mind.

I start off by putting it on EzineArticles only and let it approve.

I then submit the articles to about 20 article directories. These are the top ones or ones that typically show up as backlinks most often.

Later I will use Unique Article Wizard and post to about 10 sites a day.

I then will use my article submission software and post to about 10 sites per day. I use Automatic Article Submitter and the Jobs Queue takes care of this for me for the most part.

Since these are well spun, typically the articles are picked up as backlinks fairly well. I also alternate keyword anchors and pages that the resource box links to spreading the links around.

I have whole sites with just article backlinks that do rank well.
 
Sara, you say that you submit your articles to 20 directories after approval from ezine.

And then at a later time you use article submission software to post to ten sites a day. What is the difference between submitting to article sites versus using article submission software?

I mean, besides the relative ease of use, why not submit to those 20 directories using the article submission software? What am I missing here?

You must make sure that you article gets approved before the mass submission

Oh I use article submission software for everything.

I just have 20 article directories in a different "profile" than the mass submitted version.

Automatic Article Submitter allows you to have site groups to separate them out.
 
I agree with SaraJ. Ezine first since they are finicky. Then go nuts with the rest. I use ezine to go after primary keywords and then spin author boxes to go after all internal pages in my site. Over time, you develop massive link counts to nearly every page on your site and google seems to really like that.

thanks sara, I guess my question really wasn't that clear. What I meant to ask was why you didn't use article submission software to submit your article to the top 20 article directories.

You said that you submitted your articles to the top twenty directories and then at a later date you used article submitter software to dole out submissions to other sites. Could you not have used your software to send to those first 20 directories? Was there some reason you didn't use software to do that? Or did you and I'm just not picking up on that.

Bottom line is I'm trying to pick out article submission software and I'm only really concerned about hitting the top 20 or so sites. Is the article submission software you're using not appropriate for that task?

I see how I confused you.

Yes I use the software for everything.

Automatic Article Submitter does everything I need it to do and it's easy to add new directories so it's "future proofed".
