Article spinner effectiveness question

Hey guys, I'm looking into creating an article spinner tool in Spanish but had the following question:

It's a fact that Google can recognize synonyms, so how effective is a spinner in terms of creating "unique content" in the eyes of Google?

Anybody have any insight in this matter?
