This can be an effective method to gain exposure for your website and establish you as an authority in your niche. It does however take some time to build up momentum. Remember that if you are placing links in these articles back to your main site to vary the anchor text. Don't make it all the same and vary the pages you link to within your site. For instance you should link to a page that is contextually related to the topic you are referring to in the text you link from.
