article marketing

I plan to market my niche sites via article marketing, as i've heard this is an effective long term route and keeps you looking the most legitimate and such.

What i was wondering about is what are the best ways to go about article marketing?

I've heard a good plan is to write on popular topics on the site (like ezine) and then just backlink to one of your sites whether related or not, but is this the most effective route?

ie

write a good article on popular topic x
-submit this article to ezine and goarticles (without spinning...?)
-have both articles backlink to your site or backlink to another article that gets more leverage and then backlinks to your site.


anyone know any affective routes for this? all help is appreciated, thanks

I think writing and article is a good way but what good is an article without back links on that article itself?

i think its just the good article directory sites like ezine/goarticles give good backlinks to your site.

yep. submit articles to those sites, have the articles link to other web 2.0 properties (hubpages, squidoo, etc) that eventually link back to your site as well.
