Article Keyword Anchor Question

I am starting to do the off-site seo stuff for the an e-commerce site and decided that as part of this strategy I would write helpful how-to articles.

Now my question is, if the article I am writing for is about for example.."usb thumb drives" should I have the anchor link be to domain
name or domain name/usbthumbdrives
Just not too sure what would be more beneficial!

Think about it as which page are you trying to rank. If you have multiple products, I would suggest ranking the individual pages. Have the keyword in the url as well. A lot of article sites allow 2 urls in the "Bio" box which would allow you to do both.

Possibly pick your main product, and advertise the home page for that. You want about 60% of the links going to your site to be directed at the home page and the rest of them pointing at subpages.

Thanks for the reply, we have about about ~300 products, lol, most fit into common categories. Website has about 20..lots of work!
