So started my journey in 27th march and bought domain & wrote my first post in the 31st of March.
Till yesterday (7th April) I had written 12 posts all of which have been indexed & have between 700 - 1500 words. Although they have been indexed they are not yet ranking even in top 100 for 0 competition keywords (which is normal due to google sandbox)

However, something weird happened yesterday. I wrote a post to target like 20 different keywords and its only 1.2k words long with a tiny bit of duplicate content (product features) and for some reason it got instantly indexed and 1 hour later it started ranking in top20-30 for all the keywords I wanted it to target.

Meanwhile the older posts have yet to show up on SERPs. Has anyone ever experienced something similar yet? What could be the reason for the article to be doing this well and instantly leave the sandbox?

Sounds like you're doing well then..
In terms of the keywords that this new post is ranking for - what is the search volume, keyword difficulty etc? Do they include references to your brand/domain name? Are there many competitors for these keywords?

All the keywords im targetting in all my posts have at best 1 or 2 other sites targetting only

Yes, I have a few sites under 6 months old that are ranking top 30 almost a week or so after i published them, where as their older articles have not even entered top 100.
What I have noticed is those kws are very volatile, they jump on and off the rankings constantly.
These that are top 100s are main KWs (not long tails) with easy comp

I have the same situations for 2 of my websites,
1 is an auto blog, some keywords rank 1st page, #1, feature snippet and others 2nd-5th page,
the other is a new website within an old non-drop domain, the articles are well optimised and they're not even on the top 100,
one of the pages showed up at first then disappeared completely,

one thing in common between each of these is basically they don't have a good link profile

It is good one to know. Working daily on both on page and off page gives this kind of result.

Mate, You should be happy about that and the last post targeting 20 different keywords, would seems to have atleast one strong keyword that wins competition.

Also, ure content should have mattered there to overcome other posts with those keyowrds.
Happy to notice that your work going good.

Find the reason behind it and follow the tactic and go good
Good luck :)

I have a niche which only has 4 articles on it, and one of them is in the top 20. The other 3 articles are simply supporting articles.

Could be better on-page and little to no competition.

Good indicator that Google likes that type of content, but you still have a long way to go

It's called topical coverage.... and it's part of the algorithm to determine depth on an article. This is one the on-page SEO side of things.
