I might be able to get my hands on a mysql database with 250,000 articles...I just need to see how large the file is. Think it's a couple hundred megs!

Hey there , I got the one with the 225k articles, its 384 megs in size, but for some reason that database dump only did 90,000 ... I just located another 20,000 but always looking for more. i m setting up a article directory here

I use the articles from adsense business in a box that I bought on ebay for a buck. hey thats 5k articles for a dollar.

I have a database of over 200,000 articles together with the article directory script.

I hope you can manage importing the huge mysql dump file into your database. Probably you will need to use some hack to overcome phpmyadmin's max file size limitations.

Just let me know if you need it and allow me some time to repack it into several smaller size archive files and to upload it to some server. Packed size is of about 400MB.

I have that database, I am uploading it to RS right now.
It will take about one hour or two to have it uploaded, it's about 400 Megs.

Before installing the ArticleBeach directory script that comes with an extra 227,000 articles database option, please be aware that the script has serious vulnerability issues that must be patched to avoid your site being hacked.

I've seen several patches available on the Internet.

Sorry, I can't find the link for the other security patch (which has some great features, as "article directory hacker attempt notification"), but as far as I remember, its author is Perry Wolf, and you can contact him via WF. He was selling his script for about $20.

Finally all the files have been uploaded to RS.

Hi web_i,

You couldn't succeed with your phpMySQL dump because of the max file size limitations set. Furthermore you will encounter the limitation of the available memory on the server.

I had the same problem with the limitations, therefore I had to find some workaround.

For uploading I used an FTP client that allows to resume the interrupted upload.

For dumping the huge SQL file I found a script Bigdump.php that could do the job by updating the MySQL database in small chunks with waiting time in between.

It took a bit of time, but at the end I could learn by trial and error how to solve this apparently impossible task.

Get the "BigDump: Staggered MySQL Dump Importer" script from the above link, read and follow the instructions, and enjoy your new article directory.
