Article directory rank in my spot!

I have a client that is a writter and in his own site writes articles about parapsychology,self healing etc. So every article is targetting in a new keyword, usually with some article marketing, blog commenting and some forum profiles (using senukex) targeting article directory he is on page 1 spots 1 to 3 for every single article(low competition keywords local greece). But today i checked his rankings and he was dissapeared and in his spot there are the articles from a particular article directory! Wtf? What should i do? Any1 experienced something like this? What i did wrong? It cant be any kind of ban no agressive link building, just 30-40 links at most. Also blog commenting is manually and niche related for example if i'm targeting for keyword like eft (emotional freedom technique) i write only in blogs related to eft and always comments that condribute to the blog.

P.S: Exact same article that is on site posted and in this article directory.
P.S:2: Only forum profiles from senkue x target article directory all the others backlinks target the article on site

EDIT: I forgot to mention that, all articles have a lot of facebook likes that helped a lot in their ranking (some articles have 400+ likes)

there is a link from that article to your clients site,right?

yes of course, there is source of the article on the bottom and anchor text in keywords.

Hope you are right, i'm still a newbie still have to learn a lot and made a lot of mistakes but i believed that my strategy for this client worked so i was very proud for that (1st seo try that returns results) and i freaked out about this!

1)So that happened because i did something wrong?
2)Should not i post exact same article that is on website on article directory?
3)My strategy (see 1st post) is bad? I thought that if you have results then continue whatever you are doing, but when happened this shit started having thoughts...

1.next tym spin d article.instead of posting exact.that wud reduce the occurrence of dis problem.but it will still occur a few tyms.
2.same as one.
3.strategy looks fine
this occurs,not a mistake of urs or anything.
