I've been in this game for a long time. This has never happened. I cannot get this one page (of a 10 page site) indexed. It has unique very well-written 3-4k words of content on it, all helpful, informational with a soft call to action (I've tried without this CTA but no different). It's a really simple site, no silly design shit anywhere. It's 2.5 years old. It has some huge links pointing at the site, and particularly this one page, it popped into the index after buying a Forbes type link but then after 2 hours it popped out of the index and hasn't been in since (this was Thursday or Friday morning).

I've fetched Google and added the URL to the index. I've ran indexers on the sitemap. I've added the URL and sitemap to expressindexer, I've double checked everything and there is no reason why it's not indexing. I don't believe that BS about Google not indexing all pages, maybe if there is something wrong with them.

    Any other ideas?

Check if it's missing from your sitemap.xml file.

Type that domain in google and see if you get any results, any sign that it's indexed.

Sometimes you have to wait for a week for google index to refresh your stats.

Also ping your page, and try to add few new words of content and save it again.

Thanks mate, it was missing so I added it manually about a week ago.

It's had 2k new words of content in the past week to try and push it in front of Google. Still no job. I thought the Forbes link would have got it indexed immediately (which it did for a brief time) but now it's nowhere. Think I'm being impatient.

Having the same problem, started a website 5 days ago, currently has 9 articles, up till today none has been indexed.

Already pinged, already sent a couple backlinks to some of them, already silo'd my website and even used google's fetch and sent to index.

Also added sitemap to google and nothing.

Homepage & categories are all indexing and ranking but the posts not getting indexed

What is the age of the page (not site)? If it's new then wait for few more days. Also check your robots.txt file... just in case you may have disallowed it. Check the page itself for robots meta tag to see if you didn't added noindex or none robots meta tag.

    >It has some huge links pointing at the site, and particularly this one page

This may have caused some filter to stop indexing the page. Google knows better! IMO, it's better to build backlinks slowly. The tortoise style is the best style for long term SEO :)

Same problem. One of my blog's getting updated pretty regularly but there is just one (really good) page which just won't register.

    Annoying.

Robots is fine. 100% unique content. Page is a few months old. Site is 18-24 months old can't remember exactly.

Its had loads of links since the beginning. Like I said I've done this for years and not had this problem. I've redirected that page to another, and will use the content on the non indexed page on another and see if I get the same problem.

Wondering if its the Forbes link causing the trigger and possible manual review. Could do without that.

Definitely sounds like a weird one.

I know you said you checked the robots.txt, but is there a page level issue going on that you might have added manually?

IE does it have a canonical tag to a different url, does it have a page level noindex tag.

Or is your url a /category/post when category urls are blocked?

They are the major reasons, but I'm presuming you have checked them all.

Check for a page level noindex. That could be one reason. And you said it is 2.5 years old, OMG

Correction. Not "once." 99% of people here are broke SEO guru wankers forever.

You'll never see me call myself an SEO or an SEO guru for that matter. Anyone who calls themselves that should kill themselves.

I IRL laugh at this place and its 'advice' every day.

How am I a newb? I don't have many posts a) I was banned for 2-3 years b) I'm always busy c) I run my own SEO company and have 23 client websites and a handful of my own. I am in pharma, finance and travel and do well.

archon10 - I was a copywriter a long time ago. I know what unique, helpful, useful, informational content is. Thanks for your inspirational input, though.

FutureProofSEO - no categories, it's simply got a homepage, news, blog, FAQ and a few others that are informational/descriptive. I've had three finance applications since Friday, so the site is working fine. Like I said, I have given up with the non-indexed page and redirected it, I don't have time for G to piss around. I'll use the content on another page.

It's just find it really odd, that's all.

GWMT indexed that page...took a week. I've reinstated that original page and deleted the new one that didn't get indexed from last night when I made it live.

Weird as most my sites get indexed within minutes/hours, especially smaller ones like this one.

    End of thread.
