Arrest Record Showing Up in Google

There is a company that has my arrest record posted. When you search my name (which is an obscure name) the second result in the Google serp is this arrest record. What kind of reputation management techniques can I do on my own ? I have never used software like Xrumer.

Fast forward 7 years and I have graduated from college and am looking for a job and afraid of what people will find when they google me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated !

Yea, these guys want you to pay them to remove the mug shots. You can set up some Social Media properties about yourself, and Web 2.0's and out rank the mug shots so that all people will find on the first page are positive things about you. So make a Fanpage, a Twitter account, Linked-in, Squidoo Lens, Tumblr Blog..... you get the picture. Optmize for your name, put content about yourself like your biography or some thing of that nature, family tree, accomplishments, photos, etc. With an original name like you claim to have, you'll have no problem getting up the SERPS with just the minimum of backlinking (if any is needed at all) and outranking these blackmailers (which is what these companies are). Plus now your perspective employers will think you're someone really special with all these "nice" properties about you.

Is this in the US? If it was 7 years ago can you get it expunged? They should remove it if you can get that.

yeah this isnt the first time of heard of this, they want you to pay them, the only way around this since mug shots etc are public info, is to run through that list that Alchemy has given you.

you can't expung everything...depends on which state...

ranking the web2.0 properties is kinda easy these days. Try create more and more properties with relevant content about youself and blast the hell out of it with different types of anchors. As this is not a competitive keyword, your properties will stick for quite some time.

Do that... but make a few different profiles using the same name like they are different people. I search my name in google and get all kinds of different results. The more profiles you make the better the chance it will push that site down.

If anything just be honest with your clients, we all make mistakes.

If a company wishes to find your arrest record, its public record and almost all states have them listed on line.

But yah, you can create a bunch of mock "yous" and push theirs way down, they prob wont even know its happening.

I have a felony and have told nearly all places I have ever tried to get a job, it has never affected me.

edited, I searched my name and its such a common name, even with the middle initial, that I don't even show up anywhere.

They are going to run a background check on you before they hire you, so even if you out rank it with several other web 2.0's they will still find out.

There are many other sites, I use about 1000 free sites for others. The ones above are the ones that I find most effective.

I would not use Squidoo. Anytime I have created a lens I have had trouble getting to rank. However, for link building Squidoo is great as a buffer.

Mix your name between your firstlast and first-last. The reason is that the search engines remove the hyphen in a search and the hyphen gives URL variety. While you say that the sites do not have images, I would still include three pictures per site.

The reason that those scam sites can rank a name for most people is that there is insufficient content about that person so that the scam site can establish search engine authority over your name. To overcome the disability that those types of site create for you, you have to provide the search engines what they want - content, and thereby take authority over your name. You can use spun content, but original content is best. Each page should have a minimum of 600 words. With the content, it all depends on what you want to do. Big data is going to get the data and use it to profile you. Do you want to be a writer, a martian, a joker....? Also remember, somewhere around 90 percent of employers now Google prospective employees. This means absolutely no pictures that you would not show in an Amish church. No stories about your drunken escapades, etc. However, this leaves a lot of room to confound big data with false information. Also, depending on who has your information, it can be a tough job.

I am working on a program to automate this process, but that is still 6 - 9 months out.

I don't agree... that tactic may work in the normal field of work, but this forum is about SEO and making money... If one of my clients would find out I have a history in crime (which I don't) then they'd all run and drop me like a red-haired stepson! Honesty is overrated...

I'd try to get them to tell me that they want money for the removal of my record in writing and sue them for extortion Or just SEO my name so badly that the first 5.000 pages are radiant with my great personality

Something similar happened to my friend, actually worse....he had to go to court for something he was accused of by the cops, but never actually got arrested, and a local newspaper posted an article with his full name saying that he was arrested and was charged for such and such crimes. He called the newspaper and flipped out on them saying the stuff wasn't true, so they just changed the article around....if you search his name it's the third thing that comes up on google. Really sucks, and is def hindering his job search. I told him to start doing the same thing, make a whole bunch of profiles on other sites to seed out that search result. I'm sure there has to be a way to get it taken off, especially in your case 7 years ago.


Make sure you have a linked in, google profile, twitter, and everything else that make your successes stand out. I'd put a whole bunch of accomplishments on linked in asap, and even maybe buy a domain of your full name, and throw your resume on there and maybe a couple of blog posts.....if you make sure to show your successes and whatnot, if someone comes across that arrest record, they may think it's a different person with the same name as you.

This is freaking bullshyt man, its technically indirect blackmailing.

Really disgusted, anyways good luck with your SEO building, interesting to see how SEO can actually have so many practical uses.

I was arrested, but the convictions never went on my record because I did several diversion programs through the court system.

Or if you want this done faster buy a few Gigs on Fiverr to create the profile sites for you. I have been using open link wheels with senuke using web 2.0 and these are ranking sites very nicely.
