Arghhhhh, where do I start

Hey guys

I really don't want to be one of those people that ask the same question that everyone else asks, i.e how do I make money online, where do I start etc etc but I need help.

Signed up a few days ago, i've spent hours on this site, searching well into the early hours looking through post after post and i'm not sure if i've over read but i'm not taking anything in.

Basically I have my own printing company that makes signs, business stationery and websites, I would like to get my business ranked at the top of google, bing, yahoo for local searches, I also want to appear on the local map to the point where you zoom out and I still have a marker where my office is.

Now I could always pay someone to do this but this is an area that I would like to go into and gradually fade the print side out, i'm still young (Well 30's) so I want to learn.

So far I have purchased Scrapebox and proxies and that is as far as i've got

So my questions are:

I've created a new site from scratch with a brand new domain.

How do I first get onto google, yahoo and bing and how long does this take to appear on these?

What is Google Safe Browser and how do I make my site compliant?

Once i'm on google, I would like to add myself to the local map with a marker, I notice some marks show for longer when zooming out, how is this possible, is it based on ranking?

I'm sure there are 1000s of more questions to ask but at the moment I just need help getting started, I don't even think I'm a newbie at the moment, I'm well under that in terms of knowledge.

P.S I'm sure i'll get abused for this post but i've searched, searched and searched again and i'm just asking for a little help to get me started, not to tell me how to make millions. I love this site at the moment, please don't ruin it for me.

Yeah, I think the issue was that i've either read the posts too late when i'm tired or it's not sinking in.

I'll re-read them again.

I now know you have to submit your website to Google, bing and yahoo and got the links to get on there so at least i've started.

Firstly don't think we are all monsters, honest questions get a lot of help, it's only stupid questions that get ridicule on here. Anyway this may be some help

Mate, If you submit on bing. thats enough for yahoo as well.

After submitting your site based on your KW and content you will start to get ranking.

Based On your On & Off page SEO work, your site will get good ranking in search engines.


What i have learnt in BHW is , we have to be patient, need to read so much documents, filter the documents which are easy to understand. Read it again again. You will be SEO master with in a year.

Yours is printing company so bring a domain on your company printing niche name,its first step in seo.Do good design ,dont put enough graphics ,your site takes time to load.Put good content with contact info and proper onpage and offpage seo.Submit your site in google.

I would recommend reading through as many SEO guides as you can - Moz beginner's guide to seo, backlinko's many guides to link-building, seo, content creation etc.

All of these guides will have links and sources to other guides, so you'll have tons of info and before you know it - you've fallen into the SEO hole - good luck!

as your no further forward in 9months, why not just hire some one on bhw to
do the work for you, 9 months is along time to get no where

having some1 do a little site ranking for you wont cost the earth, start small

Think I will need to. I'm gonna build a new site now and get someone in to get the basics done at least, any recommendations, who can you trust these days?

In regards to content, is there somewhere I can go to get someone to write this or should I just write it myself?

I agreed with this. Time is money and you have already own a buisness improve that.

i would sit down look at what you have. make a list of what you need
and bit by bit place an add in the hire a freelancer section here

and as u might not be able to get all the things u want done in 1 go
do a couple of things at a time until u have your site where u want it.
9 months gone to nothing, a few more to get your site to where u want it
seems a small price.

just make a post there laying out what u want, what u have done so far
and what your budget is, by posting there only approved sellers of bhw
