Argh! Is the private forum any better?

Is it just me or does nobody have any money around here? Scrabbling around for $10 or moaning about $50 for a new piece of software? Half the time the figures people talk about around here you could earn doing a shift in MacDonald?s, its chump change. UK minimum wage is just shy of $10 - people cleaning my toilets are earning more money than some people having discussions here.

I am not trying to have a poke at anyone! I just get the impression this board has become floooded with younger people trying to make pocket money? I am a grown up and have a real job :) I dont get why I always see people scrabbling around and stressing over $100, I spend more on a round of drinks :)

There are tons of people who are not as fortunate as you. I'm pretty sure that the ones struggling to make ends meet and are here trying to learn as much as possible just loved your post.

I usually don't reply to posts like this, but WOW how insensitive. I hope you never find yourself in a situation where you remember when you used to blow $100 on drinks and wished you had it for food.

I've spent some time here and other forums, here's my assessment:
- many people here are n00bs and children that don't know the first thing

- I get MUCH better info at the gaygle webmaster forum

- WF is one notch above this place

- I come here mostly to see what NOT to do...

(all of this from my SEO perspective, not the more common here MMOL view)

yeah. lets see you make money online. I know your not here for that but i dare you to try. Don't make a conclusion if you didn't do your homework.

By the way? Why the urge on posting this kind of thread?

It sounds like that you have started on the SEO path and want to watch it succeed. So let me offer you a bit of advice (from an adult who HAS managed to turn SEO into decent money maker for UK standards):

1. Forget about creating a bunch of sites for success. Concentrate on just the one to prove to yourself that you have what it takes.
2. Learn "proper" SEO - you know the type big G wants to see and you are well on your way. This point needs much further detail of course.
3. Killing money and precious time on tools and spending ages testing them, trying different methodologies only to find that most don't work is just crazy. If a lot of the people who fail spent the same time developing an authority site instead, you will make more money with less effort.
4. The most crucial part is to pick the right niche/ keywords and domain and you are well on your way.
5. Stay away from info overload.
6. Repeat again...FOCUS, FOCUS, FOCUS!! Play and master one game instead of trying to master ALL at once.

good luck

Just to clarify, I am the technical director of a large UK digital agency; I have been making money online for close to 15 years, I am not a snob! I am a working class fella raised on a council estate that worked his nuts off :)

I am not knocking anyone! I just got a bit frustrated after reading a few threads with people moaning about buying ScrapeBox (50 odd dollars) and some people arguing over $10 articles. I do understand that some people can't afford to go and spend $100 on drinks but I think my frustration was more about the fact that (in my humble opinion) they are in the wrong place! To make any serious long term cash you need to have some capital to invest.

When I could not afford food I went and humped patio slabs around on a building site, worked in a banana packing factory and at one point was a floor sweeper in a warehouse, I didn't sit on a $500 computer trying to find $10 :) I went and made real cash, educated myself and sorted it!

I just dont get it :) Sorry to cause some ill feeling, I am not like that honestly!

They may not be moaning about "chump change" because they don't have it. Perhaps it's because IM also makes you frugal and to really think about where and how to spend your money especially if IM is a full time job for some people. I get what you are saying but things are not always what it seems.

I disagree with most of this post. One can make long term cash without capital to invest.
1. Get a blog and put up AdSense.
2. Come here to find good ways to get revenue from AdSense.
3. When you have your first AdSense check, get a domain. Find a host that lets you pay monthly so it's not a lot of money for you.
4. Come back here and learn how to make your site profitable.
Take some of what you make learning techniques to buy a couple of must haves. The rest is history.

With that said, I find your post very insensitive, as someone else also stated. There are many people who have been laid off and are down on their luck. They are trying to find ways to pay the bills. To eat. They come here because they want to learn. Of course they can't afford some programs. If it's a choice between eating and buying a program, they are going to choose eating. Your post is very insulting to them. I hope that no one reads your post and feels like they are in the wrong place. To anyone who is new here and broke, it's okay. People here will help you. You will over come. It just takes time.

That is an opinion and I do respect it, it is not my intention to be insensitive at all.

You do realize that a lot of people working in these forums are Asia based with much lower minimum salary?
Just saying btw I am UK based anw..

don't forget that not everyone is from developed countries here. Yes, maybe in UK or in USA 10 dollar is nothing, but in some other countries even 200-300 dollars a month is pretty good money.

as far as public forums go this forum is the best, the vip section is good but not very popular; i think its worth to be there cause you can get some nice business contacts. there are obviously some golden private forums but i wont mention them here(the really good ones which need an invite, and the person which is inviting you takes the responsibility for inviting; i wouldn't care much for forums which expect shitloads of money to join)

I don't think you understand or know what you are talking about. People in IM usually don't talk about how much they lose in TOTAL. They usually talk about how much money they lose PER DAY. So $100 per day is a lot.

I understand your frustration Verdox and it's OK to vent. I have seen that you have to keep reading until you find a really good nuggets of information and tutorials. They are there...just keep digging.

Personally, I get irked at the people that want writers for $5.00. HAHA! (My lil rant for the month).

I know! And Expect quality for the same money. I actually started a thread last night and wrote an article for free (check my post history) just to see how much time it would take to produce quality content, it took me about an hour I think in total and the guy I gave it to pointed out that even as a native English speaker my grammar was off in places still. It is bloody hard work!

I am discusted with everything that the OP has said.

First of all you need to learn some respect

Scrabbling around for $10 or moaning about $50 for a new piece of software
A lot of people are less fortunate to be from the UK, $10 maybe a normal days wage for them, who are you to insult them.

Half the time the figures people talk about around here you could earn doing a shift in MacDonald?s
But what has that go to do with you? Does it make you feel good to say things like that? Do you realise that it is not easy to find a job in the UK? Even in MacDonalds.

its chump change
Does this make you feel like the man? Yeah I bet you feel better now.

UK minimum wage is just shy of $10
Thanks for that knowledge, you must feel so special.

people cleaning my toilets are earning more money than some people having discussions here.
I?m beginning to wonder If your hiding behind someone that you?re not.

I am not trying to have a poke at anyone!
Lol, what are you trying to do then? I don?t get it.

I just get the impression this board has become floooded with younger people trying to make pocket money?
Yes this is an internet marketing forum, everyone is trying to make money. 99% of people are going to fail at making money online, did you really think you could come here and become a self made millionaire over night? If it was so easy nobody would need to do a ?real job? You need to learn, learn, learn, fail, fail, fail, then maybe oneday something actually works for you.

I am a grown up and have a real job
Really? I don?t think you are a grown up with a real job, appologies if i am wrong though.

I dont get why I always see people scrabbling around and stressing over $100, I spend more on a round of drinks
Sorry that you don?t get it, I hope oneday you will understand that everyone is trying to earn here. It?s nice to make yourself feel good every now and then isn?t it.

Is the private forum here any better?
You have a real job, you?re the man. Junior VIP only costs a round of drinks, why not find out for yourself.

I don't know if this is particularly fair on individuals on this board.

1) Some of these people are, as you said, young. Its much harder to get a decent job when you are younger.
2) The unemployment rate in America is very high, which is where a lot of members on this board come from. It is hardly their fault that the economy right now is in the toilet.
3) Members on here may also have families and other expenses to pay, or may be having to make up for previous bad decisions in life (debt).
4) Let alone the people here who aren't from first world countries. Stuff in their countries costs a lot less, they get paid less. But then when they buy on the internet, they have to pay the same price. Very rough.

I know that it has taken me a lot of money to ultimately make money. For many people, they don't want to pay that $10 because they know that they're going to have to pay other $10 amounts for other pieces of software/guides along the way. Almost all of them flop, its amazing when you find something that works (like scrapebox).
