Hi everyone,
I’ve noticed mixed opinions about consistent upload schedules on YouTube lately.
Do you still think having a fixed posting schedule helps with channel growth and audience retention?

Yes, posting videos regularly is still important, mainly to get viewers familiar with the channel and encourage them to return. But having good content and retaining viewers is more important than posting a lot just to meet a schedule.

Yes, consistency is important, but quality is important more.

Not really. The algorithm rates each video individually based on performance, not your calendar. A strict schedule only matters to your die-hard fans who actually expect a video at a specific hour.
For growth, consistency is about keeping the data flowing to the algorithm so it knows who your audience is. Posting a banger whenever it's ready is 100x better than rushing a trash video just to meet a deadline.

I think consistency in channel building is more important than whether you post many videos at once or not. Maintain your normal frequency.

Not exactly. I think engaging content is more important. I used to try posting 3 videos a week on a schedule, but the views were still low. Then, i posted less frequently, focused on engaging content and keeping viewers hooked and one good video helped the entire channel grow much more than an average video.

fixed posting way better than random posting with random posting you have lower chance of growing

I still think a consistent schedule helps, especially for keeping your audience active and expecting new content.
But honestly, YouTube seems to care more about watch time and engagement now than strict upload timing.
I’d rather post quality videos consistently than upload every day with average content.

I’d say consistency matters, but not the posting schedule itself . I used to post on strict set days for a while, and I barely saw any difference if the video itself didn’t perform well. But when I switched to uploading only when I had a solid idea, the views actually improved, even without a fixed schedule

Yeah I still think consistency matters, but not in the old “upload every day at 3pm” kind of way
What helps more now is training viewers to expect content from you regularly Even 1-2 solid uploads a week is enough if the videos are good
I’ve seen channels grow fast with random schedules too, but their content quality and retention were crazy high
A fixed schedule helps more with audience trust than with the algorithm itself imo
Yeah, I fully agree. Structure helps, but without solid content it doesn’t do much on its own

I think consistency still matters, but probably not as much as before. A fixed schedule can help build audience habits, but strong content and retention seem more important now. I have seen channels grow even without strict upload timing if the videos are good.

Consistency helps, but in 2026 YouTube cares way more about CTR, retention, and overall video quality than a strict upload schedule.

I think that's necessary for the channel's sustainability. it will create a viewing habit for the audience.

More than sticking to a schedule, you should identify active hours where you get initial momentum and align your publishing schedule with it.

Consistency helps, but mostly because it keeps you producing and gives the audience a habit. The algo mainly cares about CTR, watch time, retention and returning viewers

I’ve seen channels uploading randomly blow up because the content was strong, and daily upload channels completely die because the videos were mid

Better 1 good video/week consistently than 1 mediocre video/day

Only thing I’d say is try not to disappear for 2-3 months if you’re still growing. That usually kills momentum pretty hard

The algorithm rates each video individually. Sticking to a strict calendar is for human habit. I think, it's better publish during your audience's peak active hour.

You should still maintain a posting schedule to keep your followers updated and follow a consistent approach to boost engagement.
