I think thumbnails can help with branding and getting attention but the content itself still matters more Especially with AI shorts the first few seconds and viewer retention seem more important

Yes, for some short videos, I used thumbnails. But I think short videos are the first 3/4 seconds very important to stay audience in your video. Short video hook is most important.

Yes, there's a lot of short content that also gets a lot of views from YouTube searches; thumbnails are very important.

I use thumbnails sometimes, but I am not sure they make a big difference for Shorts. The first frame seems more important to me.

Yes I think thumbnails can still help Shorts stand out especially when people are browsing your channel A strong simple thumbnail that matches the video can make a noticeable difference

sup, uploading ai slop is the fast food of content. i dont get the thumbnail thing but if it gets views, maybe its a w. no cap, ai stuff can be mid sometimes. hope your channel doesnt crash out from low quality.

For Shorts, I don’t put much weight on thumbnails since most views come from the Shorts feed. I’d rather spend the effort on the first second of the video than on an AI thumbnail.

For Shorts, I think the thumbnail should be simple. One clear image is enough, no need to add lots of text.
