Hi,

Focusing only on direct contextual backlinks misses a massive trust signal. Unlinked Brand Mentions are one of the easiest ways to build real E-E-A-T and secure natural authority.

For those running client campaigns or niche sites: Conversion: Are you reaching out to turn existing unlinked brand mentions into active backlinks? Anchor Safety: Do you use plain brand mentions to keep your overall anchor text profile looking 100% natural?

How are you incorporating brand mentions into your link building strategy right now?

Let's discuss!

I'm actually not doing that. I think for every valuable link source, I have to link to my sites. On a few projects I get organic brand mention from Reddit. I don't think the trust signal you could get from an unlinked mention could outweigh the authority from a link on the same site, assuming said site is valuable.

Yes, I use brand mentions as part of a natural link-building strategy. I like mixing branded anchors, naked URLs, contextual links and unlinked brand mentions rather than relying too heavily on exact-match anchors. It makes the overall backlink profile look much more natural.

That's really interesting info. Do you have any concrete examples or actual results to back up how effective this really is? I always ask for a plain brand name or naked URL anchor to keep the profile clean, but even when editors refuse to add the link, those unlinked citations still do heavy lifting for entity authority.

I focus on reclaiming relevant unlinked brand mentions and turning them into backlinks where it makes sense. I also use branded and natural anchors to keep the link profile balanced and build authority without looking over-optimized.

a good approach is to start with existing brand mentions and prioritize the ones that are already relevant to your niche.

Unlinked brand mentions are worth looking at, especially when they are from relevant and trustworthy sources. The biggest opportunity is not just converting every mention into a backlink. If the mention is already on a strong, relevant page, I’d first check whether adding a link actually makes sense naturally.

Yes, I like brand mentions as part of a diversified link-building strategy. I usually look for relevant unlinked mentions first, then use branded or natural anchors when outreach is possible it keeps the profile more natural.

I’ve been using unlinked brand mentions as an easy outreach opportunity, Especially when the mention is already relevant. It also helps keep the anchor profile natural since most of the link's end up being branded or naked URL's.
