Hey all. I sell things on ebay, and yeh, they are replica items. I decided to list a slight variation from what I usually sell and got the message:
Are you attempting to list a counterfeit or non-authentic item? Are you aware the listing of such items is not allowed on eBay?
If you continue, your listing will be flagged and promptly reviewed. If your listing appears to offer a counterfeit or non-authentic item, it will be ended and your eBay account could be suspended. We may also refer your listing to the relevant company or law enforcement for review.

This scares me shitless, as my account is very old (10 years old), with 100% feedback. I have a good thing going, I'm also going for Top Rated Seller / power seller status.

Shall I just not list this particular item? Or shall I list it on a diff account? (Not stealth, both accounts can be linked by eGay easily).

Have any of you had this message whilst listing? I'm sure it is to scare off people from selling fake shit..and it's working so far for me :O

cheers guys n gals

You cant sell counterfeits and expect to become a top rated seller, it doesnt work that way. You need to find something legit and will sell long term, if you want to sell counterfeits, I suggest you do it with a stealth account. Also it will still bite you in the ass if your ebay account get suspended and paypal finds out about you selling counterfeits. Then they will hold your money for 180 days

The problem here is that you are being told upfront that your listing is going to be given particular attention and so if you carry on and list said items then you have no chance of pleading ignorance at a later stage although in general you don't lose account automatically.

Usually it is a warning first saying that if you continue to list similar items then you account liable to be closed down.

If you value your Ebay account as you appear to do then it may be best to toe the line, at least with your legitimate accounts.

Selling counterfeits items is a burn and bank method. Can you make money? Sure! But you can get suspended quickly. From your first
post it sounds like you have been selling counterfeits on your first eBay account and it is almost a powerseller? In that case your lucky
and need to continue whatever it is your doing without trying anything new on it. Experiment on a less important account bro.

Yes I am almost a Powerseller. Just need 50 transactions and i'm there! I have stock of 50 items which I could shift quickly if I lower the price enough - which I probably will end up doing as they are not selling nearly quickly enough for me (like 2 in 10 days. My price is higher than other sellers though and crappy best match due to non top rated seller).

Thanks for the advice. I sell GOOD replicas in a slow, believable manner and customers are happy, so I guess that's how I'm getting away with it. Also my account has aged and I have 100% feedback with near perfect DSRs which helps.

I'm trying not to get greedy (did it a few years ago with DVDs on the same account, got greedy and careless and it got suspended momentarily. I made some nice money though). I'm not making stupid amounts of money right now, but it's some nice income which is okay for me at this moment, and it requires very little work - just a little bit risky. Guess I won't sell this particular item that may get flagged, even though I see other people selling without hassle and they are obviously fake...

Again thanks for the advice. I'm tempted to try and create my first stealth account and use that as a backup / experiment on. Charz!

OP, If you sell counterfeit goods then don't be surprised that you will be caught and banned at some point.

If you are almost at Powerseller status then I would suggest going legit on this account and starting another for handling any products that are dodgy.

Now that the account is in ebay's crosshairs you need to spread out your sells on different accounts.

When you do sell on the account that got the counterfeit message. Be sure to sell each item at least a week apart and do everything you can to not have any blowbacks with every transaction you have.

Best Wishes.

My account isn't in ebay's crosshairs. The message I got was a default one that appears whenever you use certain buzz words in the listing title. This is just an automated system put in place to deter people from doing such things. I agree with you guys though and will probably stop.

Your right. Your account is fine and not red flagged or anything yet. But if you have a good thing going why change it! :)

I would kill to get my regular account back, and I never sold counterfeits on that account.

Don't do it, legit accounts are way to valuable to sell that shit on it.

Because you rather have something then nothing

Obviously he has something going great with his current account and if he wants to experiment then he needs to do it on a fresh
new account so I am not sure what you said?

I have made a stealth ebay and PayPal account today :D

Any particular tips or tricks? I am using a spreadsheet to keep track of my IP addresses, and have uninstalled the PayPal and ebay apps from my phone (I'm using it to tether). I put some money on the VCC and linked it to my PayPal. I'm assuming I can use this to buy some items to boost my feedback a little bit?

Do not buy too many items to fast or eBay will catch on. You can buy some items to get started. Watch out with your mobile
phone because it is a myth that they cannot link you that way. Be careful with opening your emails and make sure to have all images
blocked (gmail does this automatically) since they can insert web beacons into the images and track you like that.

Yeah that's why I deleted the apps. What do you mean by be careful opening emails? I used gmail so it would block images, but what about having that particular email attached to my mail app on my iphone. Is that a bad idea ?

I am a paranoid person but for me I would only attach one email per phone so there are no risk. But as long as you have images
blocked then you are fine. Web beacons come out in images that are inserted in emails like PayPal logos or eBay logos.

So for example when you open the email and an image appears that sends out the web beacon that can identify you.

actually your account is in ebays crosshairs and is being watched i got the same message ''are you attempting to list a counterfeit item'' you can also get that message by someone who saw your listing and reported you

when i got the message i ignored it and i listed another item and not more than 1 hour passed and BAM ebay pulled my listing and i got a mc999 wanting me to fax them a ton of stuff.

you need to let your account rest after each sell and be very careful
