Right now, I run a small firm servicing local clients. I don't plan to expand much other than having 15 or so clients to make me 90-100k a year. But I want to run also an portfolio of authority websites. Maybe 3-5 and EVENTUALLY some SaaS software. However, do you guys think authority sites (content based, typical rev sources) can be a sustainable portfolio?

I'd guess it depends on the niche of the sites... A PS3 authority site will be much less popular when PS4 is released, for example. Pick something that isn't going to change over the years, like gardening or scuba diving.

How are you planning to effectively manage 3-5 authority sites? What is your definition of an authority site?

I have an authority site and it takes all my time to manage just this one site.

So you plan to do SEO for about 15 clients, run 3-5 authority sites and then develop some SaaS software? How many employees do you plan to have or already have?

Exactly. You are going to have to get some help for this and outsource work for your authority sites. As far as if it will make money
we need to know more about what your plans are or why you want the authority sites to begin with. It depends on your niche.
