Are Web 2.0s still a thing in 2022?

Thinking of buying or making some web 2.0s and populate them with high quality articles (native-English, well-researched & unique, 1000-2000 words each), pictures, videos etc. Like 10-20 articles per web 2.0 that targets just one main keyword (the topics of the articles on each web 2.0 will be the related keywords of the main keyword).
Then I'll link 1 or maybe 2 articles to the money site. The rest of the articles will either have no links or they will be linking to other authority sites in my niche.
This will not be my only strategy when it comes to linkbuilding.

The questions are:
1. Is this a good strategy for the 2022 SEO game?
2. Will it add some value to my SEO game?
3. Or should I use these quality articles in a different strategy? If yes, what would you recommend?

Thanks guys

They are still good for diversity. I don't see how it would harm to get some :)

That's what I thought, too. But I'm wondering if I could get a better use for those quality article if I use them with a different strategy. Some people are saying that web 2.0s have lost a lot of power in the recent years. Others are saying that you just have to post quality content on them (like on any other property)

You can still do one thing I also do.

Get 50 to 70 high-quality web 2.0 + good articles and blast them with things like GSA backlinks. That'll help carry more link juice, pretty useful.

Web 2.0 are great for diversification and in some cases increases authority
And if the domain name of web 2.0 is having good authority like medium, wordpress etc you can have a good backlink from that site as web 2.0 will pass more authority and link juice. Make sure you use good written content duplicate is fine but unique much more better but i dont feel spun content is good as it dont make sense to read
As gainimposssible said getting tier 2 or tier 3 gsa links to pointing to web 2.0 will be very good

1. Is this a good strategy for the 2022 SEO game?
These are mostly good for diversity, inflating your backlinks count.
These won't do any wonders in terms of ranking you higher in serps.
But there are exceptions some platforms help ranking churn and burn niches.

2. Will it add some value to my SEO game?
Yes it will add something but as I said earlier don't expect any wonders here.
These are always good for parasites like youtube etc....
Some websites, blogs, youtube videos mention these can boost your authority which is complete BS, unless boosting authority means inflating SEO metrics like DA/TF/DR.

3. Or should I use these quality articles in a different strategy? If yes, what would you recommend?
If these are your quality articles then go for FEW cheap guest posting sites mostly offered on FB SEO related groups.
Best approach will be to get quality links Guest posts/Niche Edits Or Good quality PBN's (These aren't cheap).

One of the major downsides of these types of links has been the issue with indexing them over last few years.
I mostly use aged web 2.0's now, as they are easier to index.
Also I use them mostly in T2 now compared to T1 which I used to use earlier.

Web2's never lost any power... I rank some of my tumblers.
The problems with web2's is that when you start they have no authority, just like any other fresh domain. So if you manage to rank your web2 properties then obviously they will help.

The problem is that, people mainly create crappy web2's then spam them to death with comments or other crap links and then tell everybody that web2's do not work.

PS: it's true, crap web2's with spam used to work like 10 years ago but not anymore.

What do you put on your web 2.0s? Human written content, AI content? What links do you point to those web 2.0s?

Actually you could do it instead of getting 100 fresh domains which would cost you $5k+ year.

It's easy to lose web 2.0, so you need to make sure to use niches that are non spammy and violating TOS, alright?

I'm struggling to index web 2.0s nowadays, anybody has any suggestions?

Thanks for these clarifications!

Well, I was thinking of something like a PBN. But just not on my own domains. The thing is that it's too much of a hassle to build your own PBN: buying the proper expired domains which cost a lot of money and take a lot of time to research them (I know they would bring better results, though), buying separate hosting for each domain so that you wouldn't have the same IP and the same hosting account data etc. And Google can still penalise the domains in your PBN pretty easily.
But I didn't actually start working on this idea. I would like to know from people with more experience than me if this plan is okay.
The content is human written, no AI yet, although I was thinking about trying this, as well.

My favourite web2 is tumbler and I put a mixture of everything there but yeah, original and hand written articles.
Basically, I try to find relevant expired tumblers, I know it's hard. So they already have some links then, I add some pbp or web2 links to them. For example, sometimes I get free review copies of pbn links on this forum so I point then to my tumblrs.
So my tumblrs are like my free PBN, and some of them actually rank for some keywords.
Two problems with expired tumblrs:
1. hard to find them
2. you can't have too many links from tumblr, even though they'd be from different sub-domains.

People have been saying web 2.0 are weak links, or provide no value in SEO for as long as I can remember. Thats about a decade now. But I've used them every year and i can tell you, yes contextual links from relevant content do provide value. It doesnt really matter what label you want to put on the link. It's an anchor HTML element not a web 2.0.

If its contextual and its in relevant content, go for it. It's alright to ask questions. But building these links to find out yourself is how you will know for sure or not.

the safest backlinks you can use for new sites and good for diversity

If they look like legit posts and their linking patterns are not obvious, Web 2.0 will not harm you.

With that said, they're no longer as useful as before.

Previously even badly written Web 2.0s would provide some nice link juice to your target site, especially if you use a multi-tiered linking system.

Still, if you focus on quality and Web 2.0 content looks natural, I don't see how this could harm you provided you get links from other sources.
