These were widely used before. Do they still hold any value when done properly?

There are Several backlink techniques available, but Web2.0 is one of the most underrated techniques, This will be still effectively perform and deliver notable result in its own way.

As a beginner, I feel web 2.0 links can still have some value if done properly, but they are not as powerful as before. They might help a little with diversity, but real, relevant backlinks seem to matter much more now.

They still have some value, but not like before.

Web 2.0s work more as support links for tiered strategies rather than pushing rankings on their own. Quality and setup matter a lot now.

doing SEO in 2026 web 2.0 do not hold importance like as it used to have before. But making Web 2.0 is still beneficial if you do it the right way.

The era of using copy paste content for Web 2.0 has been gone completely.Nowadays you used to put content on wordpress.com, blogger, medium. Those days are gone when you used copy paste content. Now they require fully written and unique content.

Outbound links.
Nowadays giving a reference along with your website link also matters.In your article, you can put your website link along with two-three references link from big websites like Wikipedia.It makes the lint profile looking as natural.
Using tier 2 backlinks.
Nowadays website owners are using Tier 2 backlinks for linking their Money Site.They do not directly linking the money site to their website.Instead, they use guest post site linking to their Web 2.0 site, then linking to their money site.

Prevention.
Usage of more Web 2.0 can make your website look a little bit spammy.You can make only 5-10 percent of all your SEO effort.Nowadays high authority guests posts and Niche edits are also playing a big role.

From my experience they still work in 2026 if done properly with real useful content and strong internal linking. But weak or thin clusters don’t move rankings much anymore so quality matters more than structure now.

If done properly (unique content, aged accounts, not spammed), they’re decent for:

• tier 2 links
• indexing support
• adding some diversity

But if you’re relying on them as your main strategy, it’s probably not going to work in 2026.

So yeah, not dead, just not a primary ranking factor anymore.
