Some analysts say we might narrowly avoid a bad recession, and others say it will all come crashing down and it'll be all Mad Max. I have no idea what's going on. To me, Economics seems like a topic that should be pretty straightforward and tangible, but has been made unnecessarily esoteric and abstract.

Honestly it’s hard to predict, in my own country, things are getting expensive, groceries, gas, foods, etc. all getting their prices jacked up almost in short period of time, have never seen anything like it, prices of items that just got increased last week seeing new high this week.
But at the same time I also see that people going out and spending more than usual, and businesses are opening left and right, some stay longer some only for a few days just trying their luck, it does not scream recession to me.
So, no idea.

The economy should be easier to understand for the average person. To me it feels like discussions about it have been made too complicated, perhaps on purpose, so that most people have no idea how it works. This makes it easier for shady things to happen in the back while the average person has no idea of what is actually happening other than "line went up/down."

I don't feel qualified to give a thorough answer complete with relevant economic indicators to assess scale and magnitude here but until a 'truce' is called, or even better, an end to conflict altogether it seems somewhat inevitable i'd say. It seems like a time to really be saving every penny and avoid spending.
