Are "unlimited ssd hosting plan" really unlimited?

There's some hosting services like Hawhost, Stablehost offering unlimited ssd, unlimited website on server, But I doubt it. If the plans are really unlimited people on here just host movies, porn videos on their server. If it's unlimited how many websites roughly I can host on the server. Thanks.

As far as number of websites go most dont care, but as far as ssd space and bandwith they all say unlimited but there is always the small * saying unlimited in fair use so really it is not completly unlimited as it states.

There should be terms of service.

Usually large files/ vidoes are not allowed on them.
And they have "inodes" limit on them. ( no.of files)
So, practically you cant host unlimited sites on them.

"Unlimited" is a marketing gimmick

Only the provider can answer that. I've had unlimited plans with ~75GB of data (site backups, videos, etc) without complaint, and I've had "unlimited" plans that were suspended once I reached 1GB.

If the provider won't give you an actual number for their "unlimited" plan, look elsewhere. Even if they don't have a hard cap, they should at least tell you the upper range of whats acceptable, in terms of file size or the total number of files.

Keep in mind have you ever gone to a store and bought and unlimited hard drive for your computer? To answer your question no they are not really unlimited. Most will list in TOS the amount of space you can have. Keep in mind that most business websites are under 2 GB of data.

Say you go and load 30 GB of stuff up on the hosting plan and that is the cap if you go and ask for more space which they should give you because they say unlimited. They will do a scan and ask you to remove any none related hosting files.

Wanted to say something smart on this subject but everything is already said.
Unlimited hosting mostly refers to unlimited domains you can add on that particular hosting account, emails and databases etc.
When it comes to disk usage, hosting company MUST limit you in some ways. Will it be general disk capacity, inodes or something else, limit must exist.
