Are Telegram groups still better than Discord communities for engagement?

For engagement I'd still pick Telegram. Conversations feel more active and people actually respond instead of lurking. Discord is great once the community gets bigger, but for smaller groups Telegram has worked better for me.

If you have used both, which platform has worked better for building an active community
Discord is best for real-time hype/chat. FB Groups win for structured, discoverable posts. Choose based on your audience vibe! Let’s connect and be friends shoot me a PM to talk strategy.

Telegram remains highly active, making it easier to spark conversations and discussions, provided the content is engaging and accessible.

For me Telegram Groups any day,
People stays more engaged on telegram groups than Discord.

correct, have you every tried discord for discussion and engagement to compare both platforms ?

It depends on the type of community. Telegram is good for fast updated and conversations while Discord works better if you want organized discussions and long term community building.

so you are saying that telegram is good as a messenger but when it comes to the revenue generation group discussion then discord is far batter

Telegram has always been the better option. Discord falls behind in this regard...

Honestly depends on the crowd more than the platform. Telegram wins on reach and speed, joining is one tap and people actually see your messages, so it's strong for broad mobile global audiences and fast chat, but it gets messy at scale with no real structure. Discord is the opposite, onboarding is clunkier and it skews techy and Western, but roles, channels and voice let you build a place people come back to daily, which is where real retention lives.

If you're after raw reach go Telegram, if you want a sticky core that stays go Discord. Plenty of people run both, Telegram up top for reach and a tighter Discord for the loyal core. Either way engagement comes down to giving people a reason to show up, not the app they show up in.

you are right, but audience behavior shapes the specific platform and thats why both (telegram & discord) used for different roles

i would say a lot of businesses actually use both Telegram for announcements and quick discussions, and Discord for building a more organized and long-term community.

Exactly, that's the real point. In our experience the audience behaviour comes first, and the platform is just where that behaviour already lives. Telegram tends to fit people who want quick reach and fast back and forth, Discord tends to fit people who want to belong somewhere and keep coming back. Run the wrong one for your crowd and even strong content underperforms. So the real question isn't which platform is better, it's where your audience is already behaving the way you need, then you meet them there and give them a reason to stay.

Floqal
