Are Tags important in WP?

Hey guys!

Just wondering. Are Tags in Wordpress blogs important? If yes for what reasons?

they are kinda important, first they are used to link stuff together within your own blog that is related. also some of the "lesser" SE use them still i'm sure....i def think it is worth the 30 secs it take to fill them in....just my opinion....i'm sure there are some more technical explanations that will follow.....

I used to have them.. later removed it.. can't see incoming traffic from tags as well. Anyways, won't be a huge loss if you have it or not

I personally think they are a waste of time. Only good thing about it is you can stuff some keywords into your posts and it looks more natural then flat out keyword stuffing.

Like other said, not really too important and you can use them as keywords.

Also sometimes your readers might click on the tags to see if you have any other posts about that topic, or if you have tagclouds somewhere on your page it can also help you keep readers on your site.
