Are review funnels actually dead?

Just wondering if review funnels are working for everyone, especially after Google's update a few months ago.

I do SEO mostly so I understand how to push negative press/reviews down, but for people/agencies who are using funnels like the WP Review Machine plugin or reviewminer.co I'm wondering if it's still a viable option.

In my opinion that these review funnels are still effective and still work. However, people don't usually have much time to spend going through a funnel IMO.
Never heard of those two companies but those are awesome very similar to Elevatie, Podium, Broadly etc...
