Hi there,
I'm new to this and am wondering why are proxies used for Instagram

Because if you have tons of accounts on the same IP you get banned.

Most of the time proxy's are used when people are running multiple accounts and they are all following, liking, commenting. so that the ban rate will be reduced

You can manage 5 accounts from the same IP. If you have more than that you need to use proxies.
