This is a rather touchy subject; most free countries haven't any laws against using proxy?s as long as you don?t have to be compelled to bypass any security to use it. This means, if the proxy needs a username and password to access it then unless the proxy owner has given it to you, you're not legally allowed to use it. Thankfully, Black Hat SEO techniques don't embody illegal activities, however if one were to step over that border then a proxy could be a should.

I don't think there are any laws governing proxies in most of the countries and if there are some in few countries I would like to know the details OP.

If you own the proxy then it's legal. Obviously if you're hacking them or using them without permission then it's illegal.

The only country I'm aware off that has issues with proxies is Turkey. Don't ask me why. It's probably not the only one, but it's the only one I've heard of.
Not illegal even there though except if used on their Govt sites.

Scritty

Damn, I wouldn't hat to live in a country that says proxies are illegal. I imagine a lot of other things are limited to, like the freedom of speech...

I think just frowned upon because obviously most of the time proxies are used to circumvent policies and limitations.

Says who? :) Can you find any legal document on that? ;)

Well, if you are trying to get around a security system or company-enforced block (such as a school site-blocker) then it's probably better that you don't unless you need that site for something important. it doesn't look like you do, but proxies aren't illegal so you should be OK. just be aware that none of your browser history will be saved, (because it's a proxy) and if you have any browser history then it will all be wiped when you open the proxy (i think, i'm only really fluent with Ultrasurf)

Proxies are legal anywhere. You can do legal or illegal things with them. Is like hammers are legal? depends on what are you using them.

I've got a bail sheet that says so.
Alleged Offence(s) Cause a computer to perform function secure/ enable unauthorised access to a program/

It gets real when SOCA kick off your door at 7am in the morning.

Wrong! If you sell a hammer for the purpose of committing a crime then you are just as much
guilty.
