I haven't done any link building in a while, at least two years or more. I've gained natural links, but haven't built any myself. I've only focused on "on page optimization". When I did build links in the past I found profile links, directory links, and article links to bring good results in terms of rankings. These links have always generally been ******** links, so they almost always increased rankings.
Although I understand that building too many links too fast can have a negative effect and I understand that diverse domains, C-Class IP's, login accounts, and relevancy is also important --- but with all that in mind are these links worthless or have a negative effect on rankings post Penguin update? I am looking to get back into link building and want to do it the right way.
If you have any understanding on this then please share. Thank you.
