It's a far too simplistic view of link building to think site A is toxic and site B isn't. If it WAS that simple then google wouldn't even need machine learning. They'd just have a bunch of reviewers classify sites every day as clean or spam. Any site a clean one links to directly, is by definition clean. Any a spam site links to directly, is by definition spam. Job done. Internet clean.

Unfortunately that doesn't work.. ;-)
