So, I am a web developer looking for work
I've been trying to find some clients through facebook groups
But I swear...
Every single time someone makes a post "looking for website, need a developer"
They NEVER, and I mean NEVER fucking reply back
Are this people bots?
Or what's going on here?
They don't even open the message to see it but yet they post in groups that they want to hire
I am really frustrated because I am actually spending time and effort writing a message tailored to their requests, showing my portfolio etc. But they don't even open the damn message...

This has happened to me as well. But I’m not convinced that every post is made by a bot. Probably some people receive more messages than they can read. Perhaps a shorter first message with an example of your portfolio would be more effective.

I understand your feelings. I've posted similar job ads in various groups before, and we received an overwhelming number of messages. Usually, messages from strangers on Meta get sent to our inbox, so we can't always see them all. We'll still check when we have time, which proves that not all messages are bots. You can contact us directly via email or phone for a quicker response.

Some bots, some scammers, some trying to sell you not buy from you and some trying to warm up their Facebook account, their contact details like telegtram accounts.
Aftet all this if someone is really looking for web developer then you might get lucky and get a lead.

Thanks
So I should treat this as a numbers game
The more messages I send the better

No.
You should try inbound marketing instead of outbound.
People come to you instead of you going to them asking for job.
And try to do something else then web design, too much saturation.

I doubt they’re all bots. lots of people probably get way more replies than they expected, then disappear. I’d keep your message short and specific, and focus on posts where the person clearly explains what they need.
