Are new funny websites still profitable ?

I am thinking to create a funny website, BUT my only concern is that right now they are too many. Still, most of my facebook "new feeds" are this kind of posts. I am from Romania, but if I do this, I will target people outside romania (US,CA,AU, etc).

Here is the plan:

1. I already have a good domain name (not bought yet, but the name is good for funny stuff). Of course, I have also hosting.
2. I can create my own tools to "spam" some websites, and some facebook fanpages, blah blah.
3. I can schedule all my stuff to be automatically. Meaning, to scrape funny pictures from other websites that have over xxx likes, put them on my site, and post on facebook regularly. First I will make a fanpage, where I will post my pictures, from my website, and I will send traffic to my fanpage, not to my website.
4. Thinking to use google adsense. I have an adsense account, but I used it few years ago, with a music blog, have like only 1 EURO in it, because I just made few posts, and that was it.
5. I want to target people outside romania, since I don't want to edit the photos myself (in romanian language), and also I think clicks from US,CA,etc are better paid by adsense.

I know some guys/girls that make like around $100/day from this kind of websites, and some passive income would not hurt me.

PS: Adsense is paying only by check ? And also, would it be a problem (from adsense) if I post some "semi-naked" funny picutres ?

I say yes many people are making so many money via funny sites but when it goes to small sites according to me its better to invest more money to get more fun and people stay all the fun to click the ads and traffic comes easily by sharing.

Lastly we must extract many photos and videos to get some authority to our site and basically many people want to see earnings but according to me if you invest more youy will get more thats what i trust.
Quality traffic maintains always when the site becomes Authority.

According to me plz dont make risk with your adsense accounts so its better to keep it clean and we will be safe all the way

Yes this is exactly correct what wayneInc had said but the site bust be at good stage where it becomes viral to get maximum traffic to a certain website.

If you just post the same stuff like 90% of the "funny" sites you will probably fail.BUT if you can make your own content (comics,captions) and spend some time and money marketing you will get there

Make a plan, and spread your shit all over the web. And just think of something new. Like funny videos related to your page.

Your funny site will bring you some cash if it's unique. If it's not you'll fail, 100%.

This is a very saturated niche and the traffic it brings is rather untargeted and low quality. It can work but it's harder than many people probably think. Creating your own content or allowing users to interact will help you stand out. Also keep in mind adsense dislikes these sites so you may run into problems if your monetization plan is adsense.

Have unique content! Try having your site mainly post on a certain topic (sports, work, school) because that could be more popular than just tons of random junk. Certainly though, if you are coming up with new content you can draw a lot of visitors.

Yes many people make that kind of money, but keep in mind that you need a huge traffic. Also getting FB Big Fan page might be an option

As long as you have a trafic source (facebook fan page) it's going to work, the only thing is to have a huge traffic, you need a huge fanbase, and it can take some time to be done, but i suggest that you do some youtube comment spam etc with a link to a landing page that contain a content locker that requiert liking/sharing your facebook page in order to get a huge fans base quickly, you should target the videos correctly in order to get the exact audience you need for your facebook page. good luck mate

Well i am doing the same things i got fan pages,9gag clone website working on it for few months and i'm happy with the kind of response i had via facebook fanpages and yea i'm using adsense for monetization

go for it. i started a funny site 2 months ago didnt do a lot of work just ran it through GSA and posted to pinterest and it is making on average of $10 adsense a day and i dont touch it anymore

Persistence will pay off, and positioning yourself uniquely in the marketplace will pay off even more. Everybody likes funny feeds, but not everyone likes the same kind of funny feeds, so try to think about humor that you like that you can present to your audience regularly that they might not get collected that way elsewhere. Think about different communities in real life (seniors, professionals, gamers, etc) and what kind of humor they like to share, then stick to your strengths. Dominating a little niche in humor will get you more traction than being clone #974.

Definitely. While websites like the big ones do really well, I have seen a few new ones popping up recently that look really promising. savemyboredom is one that I found recently and they seem to be onto something. I would say that this niche still has potential, you just need to put a new spin on an old idea.
