Are my sites recoverable?

Hey all,

I have 6 websites, in which when I started out I was an idiot and just blasted Scrapebox and XRumer links to my main site, at least 5000 each I think. I also over optimized the pages, practically borderline keyword stuffing and added Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools to them.

Earnings were great for a while, then I left them a few months to focus on other things and the sites aren't de-indexed, but not in the top 100 anymore in the big G. Yahoo and Bing i'm rank 3 however, but that's not pulling in any earnings.

Are these sites even recoverable at all? I've been doing a few Web 2.0's and 3 tier links to try and see if I can recover them, but no joy at the moment.

Is hard to say yes or no.

If you think your site was penalized because of those blasts then maybe your best bet would be to get a few backlinks from high pr pages from high trusted domains, in the hope that those ofset the bad links. Your other route could be the google disavow tool (but many people have different opinions over this one, use with care)

Keep in mind that Google also likes to see continuous link building. So if you just start building high quality links, and do this on a daily or weekly basis, your sites could come right back again.

I keep seeing this but are you speaking from experience or just speculating. I too think that it would be the case but never tried it so dont know for sure.

Is it recoverable? Yes

It the time/effort required to recover it actually worth the money? No.

In the end its all about time and money. It is much faster to build a new site and rank it than it is to recover a penalized site.

Worst case scenario: you have to manually contact all 5,000 blogs/sites and get your link removed. Then use Google's disavow tool to remove the websites/blogs that didn't fulfill your email request to remove your link. Then email Google a reconsideration request with evidence of you contacting all the sites to get your link removed and state that you removed the rest of the links in the disavow tool. If Google feels your efforts to, as they would put it, "increase the value and user experience" of your site are impressive, then they may lift the penalty. At this point you would have to restart your link building.

Also, I doubt throwing a few high PR links to your domain will fix your site. Generally this strategy only helps to push a site's ranking higher when it's reached a plateau (ex: stuck at position 4).

Try to build quality links and unique content. If after one month you don't see any sign of improvements I recommend you to build a new site based on those keywords and invest your money there.

I think link velocity is important. I had 2 blogspots which i was able to get on 1 st page in around 3 weeks. One of them is on 297 now and other bouncing between 2-6 for quite some time. The difference was link velocity. I created pretty much similar links but on the one which is out of the top 100 i created links on a regular basis for 1 week then suddenly after waiting some more days i blasted 300+ wikis 100+ articles and 30+ web 2.0's and BOOM after 3 days my site is out of the top 100. It was an affiliate website and was able to pull in 1 sale before getting PWNED so not a complete waste
