Are multi-niched websites a good idea?

I have a multi-niched blog and would like to know if it's a good idea. Do these kinds of websites ever rank?

It does not matter if your site is niche or not niche, they all rank the same. It's, of course, easier to maintain and rank a single niche site as it is easier to watch all articles and keywords, but you can rank multi-niche site the same as single.
