Are hellotxt and ping.fm still worth to use for automatic status posting?

It seems some good tools to broadcasting content to many status sites at one time could have lost their attractive as, by last Penguin update, unnatural links (as automatic links) take to a fast penalization

Would you reccomend to keep on using them?

You won't get penalized for using them but they don't give a ton of link juice so you won't be ranking for much by using these services. FYI, Ping.fm is shutting down.

last time i checked it out seesmic only supported four platforms. thats worse not better but maybe that will change.

I think you are right, URL shorten services filter out link juice so there is no great advantage for PR, however I was afraid Penguin made our social efforts dangerous for ranking.
