I heard somewhere that HD Youtube videos are ranking better in Google, is this a proven fact? Is the duration of the video important for its rankings?

sure, 1080p video is always rank high on .. youtube, it can beat other 360p video easily.

ofc yes OP there is a page which recommends the preferred settings.

Exactly, you don't get better rankings per se, but you do attract more viewers, which will turn into better rankings.

I cannot say whether it is a 100% reliable information but what I can tell is based on my testing/experimentation. I used to produce videos on regular and actually kind of crappy quality on my old phone for one of the blog channels I used to have and then after getting a mini studio setup in my basement I start producing more quality videos all HD. Here is what I have noticed they both ranked high but the HD ones ranked high for competitive keywords and the regular looking non HD videos ranked high for medium competition keywords. My guess is that HD does make a difference but then again there were so many other factors that I cannot say for sure. As everyone else said it cannot hurt for sure and will definitely attract more viewers for the better experience.

I've done extensive testing to find out YouTube SEO factors, I can say HD videos definitely have an effect on the authority of your video.

It does depend on what your video is about. If it involves gaming or filmmaking then not having your video in 1080 will be a big hit towards you!

Yes, for sure. And probably in my op, in the next future for gaming videos also fps will became revelants for ranking.
