So - this is a paranoid delusion - I know?

I'm not trying to convince anyone that it is anything other; however, saying that...

Are Google listening to our conversations via our Phones?

Most people that I know - in previous workplaces or university - place their phone directly under their head, on their desk. A couple of months ago, I was talking to a colleague about going to see a The Doors tribute act.

Anyroad, we had been talking for about 4 hours about The Doors.

The next day, I get sponsored Ads in Google (Not sure if it is sponsored or just junk-mail) - I had marketting spam for a local Windows and Doors company, offering some shitty 70% off deal. I only noticed it because I was waiting for confirmation of my tickets, and as I say, I just saw it...

Is this just a co-incidence or what?

1) Nah you're just paranoid. Google doesn't give a shit.

2) Yeah, they're listening in to your every word. Google is the NSA.

Choose 1 or 2, that's what this thread will boil down to.

EDITED / ADDED:

But seriously : Facebook for example does not record your conversations.

They only turn your microphone on to identify the things you're listening to!!!!

But, fear not, folks from abroad:

Note: This optional feature is only available in the US right now.

How nice of facebook.

That's simply admitting they crawl your files to identify what music you have.

But seriously : Facebook for example does not record your conversations.

Not sure - perhaps it thought I said "I'm going through The Doors tonight!".

As oppose to "I'm going to see The Doors tonight..."
