Are FB Ads the right way to go?

Hi guys,

So i'm selling various custom made key-chains through my online store and every month get a few sales through organic traffic. Each sale makes around $6 profit and takes between 10-20 page clicks to convert.

My problem currently is traffic and what makes it a bit difficult is that, as it's a 'general store' where I only sell various design key-chains (each one falling under a different niche), I can't just target a single group of people and upsell higher priced products later to make a profit.

I've tried IG shout-outs on various targeted pages (varying 20-70k followers) and made a loss so far. I am now thinking of trying Facebook ads to better target buyers in each niche. I am just a bit worried that I might have the same problem where I spend more on advertising than I make in return, as I read a few times it could take up to $4-5 in ads alone per sale!

I do have a reasonable budget and have been researching FB ads/laser-targeting for the last week, but would like to see what you guys think before I go ahead and start spending more money! Thanks.

Yes, they do work, but you need to be persistent and invest a lot of money. Often businesses boom when you pay FB ads, but if you were thinking about just paying a dollar or so per each one - then you will have to wait. Money really plays a big part in it, if you want maximum exposure.

You can always include Instagram placement in the ad as well. People are more into it nowadays, and at least one of them will visit your page and buy something.

Thanks for your advice. I guess my question really now comes down to how much CPC should I expect on a typical FB ad?

As i'm concerned that if an average cost per click is around $0.30 (after the ad has been optimised) and it takes me on average 10-20 clicks to get a sale, I would be spending $3-6 on ad costs for a product where the profit is only $6. That's the reason I am wondering if FB ad's are right for this type of product.

If anyone could please advise, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Yeah, it's usually recommended to have a product with higher profit margin. Maybe do a "buy 2, get one for half price" or something. Then it's $9 profit, I guess.

You would need to advertise to the right group of people with specific interests... Then you will be good to go! Make sure you also track the user behaviour with facebook pixel!
