Are dog/ cat niche sites very profitable?

I really wanted to create my own blog where I can also be an amazon affiliate but the hardest thing is finding a good niche. I've been researching about profitable niches and a lot of people said that you can go no wrong with evergreen niches (like pets, weight loss, health, dating, etc). But my main concern is that, these kinds of niches have very high competition and i think my efforts are gonna be futile.

I've been thinking of starting a dog or a cat blog, im not a vet or an expert with animals so Im gonna curate content. It's the kind of topic that I can see myself writing like 3-7 articles a day without getting bored or losing motivation, instead of writing blogs about highly specialized topics (with less competition) like kitchenware or best adjustable dumb bells, etc.

Yes, they are! I'am editing funny dog website, and earn average 700-900$ from adsense. And it's in Hungary. If you want to make it in bigger country, i think you can earn much more than me.
 
Any niche is profitable, the real question is can you rank that niche in google.

That's up to you to figure out, do some research on the potential competition and see what you find.

that's awesome! Dog niche is still pretty big so I thought of narrowing it down to funny dog website too but that market is already saturated.

Will it affect SEO if I chose to write any topic about dogs like dog training, heartwarming dog articles, funny dog articles, dog food, etc? or should i just choose one subniche?
 
Every niche is profitable if you build it for specific group of people and if you sell them right products.
 
I picked a dozen of subniches that have high search volume but low competition, and I planned on making several articles on each to include under a single website. But the thing is authority sites of my chosen niche are going to be tough to beat, they've pretty much written tons of high-quality articles about my subniches already. Choosing a niche is harder than I thought.
 
Write funny, interesting and heartwarmint stories. I post youtube videos, and write about the video in 300-400 characters. My visitors comes from only facebook. ( 90-95%).

i was wondering how much you spent on facebook ads? I think it's easy to make posts about dogs/animals go viral but did you spend on fb ads to get your first page likes? or did you buy fb pages?
 
I've always wanted to start a blog about dogs since I love dogs so much. Maybe I should really start one.

Bolha09, how are you getting visitors from Facebook? Paid ads?
 
Of course they are. Thats why every IM guru uses dog training as an example for their keyword/website. Or Blue Widgets.

Well, you would need to learn a lot about keyword analysis. You can't write heart warming and funny dog articles and hope some magic will bring the traffic. You could do alright with social media but thats another beast.

First you need to decide which route you need to take adsense or amazon. Then you would need to do your keyword research according to that. You will probably need around 20 keywords to start off with.

Adsense keywords would be informative and specific ones like how to crate train a dog, how to teach a dog to roll over and amazon keywords would be like best dog foods for allergy or best dog food for small puppies.

And you would need to evaluate competition for these keywords and pick the easy ones. Then you got to get quality content to go along with that. Then, you need to pick a SEO strategy and start link building. If you pick keywords that were easy competition, you would not have to do heavy link building to rank them.
 
In MMO anik singal and his crew have made a killing in this niche over the years particularly selling setups and sites in the niche to their subscribers. The vertical and lateral opportunities for promotion are tremendous, and if you're serious and build a legitimate resource site - you can make money. However, if you build a purely monetized driven model here - it will be very unlikely to rank organically unless you buy heavy SEO and/or promotion.

The simple answer to is it profitable is yes, but you do have to generate traffic to the site somehow, so as long as you cover that end - go make some money.

cats are very popular online, there are people that will sit at thier computers and watch cat videos all day (not sure about dogs). If you're making a website, i'd suggest make a youtube channel too. Might earn a bit extra from that

Wonderful advice. Thank you. I'm researching on keywords right now. I'm planning on monetizing with adsense and amazon, and be an affiliate of other sites like etsy, etc.

Do I have to choose one monetization method, between adsense or affiliate? Will it negatively affect my site or SEO?

Also Im on the fence if I'm going to promote my fb page with via paid ads. I'm tight on budget but I want my some of my posts not dependent on SEO to go viral on social media. Posts like funny dogs, touching stories, etc.
 
I know the niche itself is. I sell cat related products on IG and they sell like crazy..all those crazy cat ladies..
 
I don't spend on fb ads. I have one fb page with 140k likes. And additional i post in 20-30 groups.

That's awesome! I'm from Hungary too and I was wondering if I could make a successful site like that in hungarian, although my idea was more general: just interesting articles and videos. I guess the key is to find a good niche even if you make it in a smaller country.

I'm just a beginner, but I've started with a pet related amazon review site about 6 months ago. Since that I made spiritual niche site too. Actually I haven't worked on them, just did a little SEO and gained traffic through instagram. Now that I have time to work on them I want to turn them into blog-like sites. Though I couldn't generate good traffic because I didn't work enough on them, the pet niche had definitely more traffic and better follow-back ratio on instagram. I even sold a few amazon products in a high competition, so this niche is really awesome, you just need to be persistent and create interesting and cute content. :thumb:
