are banner and display ads even worth it?

they make barely any income (except on very short videos they may make most of the income - which is still a pathetic amount), and may simply serve to not only piss people off and make you lose viewers or even subscribers, but if you're using someone elses material it may make the video more distinguishable as being monetized which wouldn't be good.

it depends on your cpm and the region you are targetting. Tier one has higher conversion mate.
 
Also depends on how many have ad block, I don't see any ads personally as I use adblock
 
no, you're not getting it.
display ads are the ones that appear on the upper right next to your video.
these along with the banner ads don't generate much revenue, so i'm wondering if they do more harm than good.
 
If you don't NEED them, don't keep them. It will make your audience trust you more if there is less spammy ads.

yes, that's what i was thinking. video ads make up 84.5% of my revenue, while display ads and bumper ads only make up 14.8%.
i'm also afraid that the copyright holders or just people that are willing to report the videos to the owners or something may bump into my videos and when they see the display and bumper ads they'll have a higher chance of noticing that it's monetized
 
answer would be Yes. Goal of banner ads and so on is to get people to your site and that is it. Your site has to do the selling. Now if you have banner ads up and no one is clicking on them then maybe look at a different network or change up the banner some.

wait you can choose the content of the banner ads? mine are just automatic, usually something pertaining to the video title.
i don't actually have a site, the only revenue i get is from youtube ads
