Are backlinks still working ?

Im currently working on some websites I know that seo has been hurt and it does not work as it used to , but I wonder if this is really worth it can somebody here share some experience ?

of course they work..however 1 good link worth more then 100 low quality links..don't go crazy and you'll be fine...
 
Good links still work. bad links are always bad.
 
Yes, it does. Might not be as easy as before when you used to rank first page by just doing some article marketing/profile links/social bookmarking. Its hard now but it works even now. I used one service provider here and my new project got ranked from Not in Top 100 to No. 8 for one keyword and in Top 20 for many other keywords. So yes, backlinks does work
 
No, Panda and Penguin ate all the backlinks! What are you trolling?
 
It's important to remember about diversification of links anchor, otherwise you may harm your website ranking.

Seo is still wide open to people with common sense. Good links bad links they all work, the fact that googe penalised people for link buildig is them SCREEMING backlinks will always be important.
The name of the game is avoiding panalties now and for me personally i find black hat stuff is better if done right. 2 months ago i built 100 hand crafted unique web 2.0 properties, did legit PR and articles all hand written, native english and 2 months later sit coped a penalty!!! The site was packed with quality video, images and info.
My totally black hat one page site is still going strong 6 month later though.

Oh and to answer the main question. Yes it is almost just as easy to rank now as it was 5 years ago. All the penalties opened most niches right up in my opinion. Ranking first in a week is not uncommon.

Backlinks are the key to SEO.. When Backlinks are dead then imagine that its the end of SEO..
 
They are working, of course. Things change but you always adapt and move on.

.... yes... I use backlinks all the time to great effect...
 
Yes, high PR and good Alexa rank backlinks work well in small doses.The best way to find those backlinks by analyzing backlinks that your competitors have. Programs like ahrefs, ibacklinkpro, majestic seo etc will help with discovering your competitor's backlinks.
 
yes they are, but buy only high authority links , months ago i bought many chep backlinks and loads . now i am paying people for removing them, Good For Seo = High authority / pr links
 
yeah a handful of authority links are better than hundreds of links from non-ranking sites
 
As long as search engines exist, there will be search engine optimization, because everyone will still want higher rankings. Backlinks work.
