i have seen many websites and blogs, which backlinks are more ,compare to others websites and blogs for a keyword but the other websites and blogs who have less backlinks are on top position ..........so i want to ask do backlinks really matters compare to content.............
are backlinks really important then content.

both things are more or less important depending on the competition for the keyword you are targetting
there are sites with awful content but with some good backlinks they rank to top and vice versa - there are sites with great content that don't even have any backlinks and are on top

Backlinks never replace a content, if your website having a ton of unique and quality content then it will never be required a backlinks. Quality backlinks just enhance the worth of website in search engines and your website will becomes more authority because of backlinks.

This is nonsense, you can have the best content in the world. If you dont build links, you wont rank.
Unless you use social media marketing to drive traffic and eventually get links, then you need links.

Best content drive traffic itself and if your keyword density is good between your overall content then you really don't need a backlinks if competition isn't higher. As I said above, just quality backlinks increase your website worth in search engines. Website without content and with a lot of backlinks known as churn burn sites...
Before this year is up my guess is that content is going to be so King that you're going to need to write content that has readers hanging on to your every last word.
But that isn't where we are just yet- not quite; but we are not far away I don't think.
Social signals will grow in importance so get some links that way at least.

You need good content if you want your VISITORS to read your site, stay on it for any length of time, trust you and buy from you - visitors are one of the most important part of any websites!
You need backlinks (quality not quantity) if you want to rank in Google.
If you want to rank in Google and keep those visitors on your site to read / click / buy / sign up to your list etc then your content must be good.
Good content can make a successful site without any backlinks as you can get traffic from other sources - content syndication, blog commenting, guest posting, forum marketing, social video, YT, Reddit etc.
So essentially your content has to be good either way. I prefer great content over great links as I can still get traffic and make money without the links.

I would say, a healthy mix of both. The site with lesser backlinks is ranking higher cause it probably has better content and backlinks (in terms of quality, not number) as compared to the other.

Agree 100% no links = no ranking, no matter how good your content is.
No content at all and lots of backlinks = no ranking!

simple, backlinks = rank (for some keywords) and trust/authority
more content + trust/authority (backlinks) = rank for lots of long tails and low keywords

Booth are equal important. But remember that number of backlinks in backlink analyzing tools is not necessary accurate. Some one may use backlinks from websites that block bots other then search engines. So that you don't see BL don't mine there are none.
